Most fashionistas know Simeon Farrar for his eponymous men’s and women’s fashion lines, especially his Kate Mouse T-shirts, but on Thursday he returns to his roots as an artist, opening his first exhibition for over seven years.

On show at the Basement Gallery beneath the PYRUS store, just off Carnaby Street in the achingly hip Newburgh Quarter, Of Rainbows and Halos aims to ‘bridge the gap between the two creative disciplines that dominate his life’. PYRUS itself was founded by Ash and Lorraine Johnson, whose connections within the art world find them seeking out emerging artistic talent to complement the PYRUS brand, known to fashion industry insiders as the go-to label for luxe utilitarian styling at an accessible price point.

Farrar will be creating a number of works on-site, and a special line of his signature T-shirts will go on sale at PYRUS to coincide with the show. The artist’s special commissions in recent years have included a rainbow-drip balcony for Johnbull in Tokyo and a perfume bottle chandelier for Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford. Many of these installations have been recreated for the exhibition and will be displayed alongside new and unseen work.

Of Rainbows and Halos runs from October 24th to November 27th at The Basement Gallery, 10 Newburgh Street, London W1F 7RN. The gallery is open from 10am to 7pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10am to 8pm on Thursday and 12pm to 6pm Sunday.
